Orry absolutely loves delicious pink sauce pasta. It's made with penne pasta and a tasty tomato and cream sauce, consisting of crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, garlic, and onions. It's seasoned with basil and oregano, and to top it off, it's sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese. It's a comforting dish that's easy to prepare and perfect for satisfying your pasta cravings with its rich and creamy texture.

Ingredients:

1. For the Pasta:

  • 200g penne pasta
  • 1 tsp salt (for boiling pasta)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (to prevent sticking)

2. For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Pasta:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  • Add 1 tsp salt and 1 tbsp olive oil to the boiling water.
  • Add 200g of penne pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually 8-10 minutes.
  • Drain the pasta in a colander and set it aside. Optionally, you can rinse it with cold water to stop the cooking process and prevent sticking.

2. Prepare the Sauce:

  • In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add 2 minced garlic cloves and 1 finely chopped small onion. Saut for about 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and the onions are translucent.
  • Pour in the can of crushed tomatoes. Stir to combine.
  • Add 1 tsp of dried basil and 1/2 tsp of dried oregano. Mix well and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together.

3. Make the Pink Sauce:

  • Reduce the heat to low and gradually stir in 1 cup of heavy cream.
  • Mix until the cream is fully incorporated, and the sauce turns a pinkish color
  • Add 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce becomes creamy.
  • Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Start with a small amount and adjust according to your preference.

4. Combine Pasta and Sauce:

  • Add the cooked and drained pasta to the skillet with the pink sauce.
  • Toss the pasta in the sauce until it is evenly coated. Let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the pasta to absorb some of the sauce.
  • If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little pasta water (saved from boiling the pasta) to reach the desired consistency.

5. Serve:

  • Transfer the pink sauce pasta to serving plates or a large serving bowl.
  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy

This pink sauce pasta is rich, creamy, and bursting with flavors. Perfect for a comforting meal that's sure to be a favorite!
