Easy Naan kataai Recipe

Naan Katayi is a delicious, flaky pastry that is popular in Indian and Pakistani cuisines. It's sweet, crispy, and perfect for tea time. Here's a simple recipe to make Naan Katayi at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • A few almonds and pistachios (chopped for garnish)

Instructions

STEP 1- Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • Add the ghee to the dry ingredients and mix well. The mixture should have a crumbly texture.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar and knead to form a smooth dough. The dough should be soft but not sticky.

STEP 2- Shape the Cookies:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 F (175 C).
  • Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls. Flatten each ball slightly with your hands to form small discs.
  • Place the discs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure to leave some space between each disc.

STEP 3- Garnish:

  • Press a few chopped almonds and pistachios into the center of each disc for garnish.

STEPN 4- Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cookies turn light golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let the Naan Katayi cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

STEP 5- Serve:

  • Once cooled, the Naan kataai is ready to be served. Enjoy these delicious cookies with a cup of tea or coffee.
