Easy Naan kataai Recipe
Naan Katayi is a delicious, flaky pastry that is popular in Indian and Pakistani cuisines. It's sweet, crispy, and perfect for tea time. Here's a simple recipe to make Naan Katayi at home.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- A pinch of salt
- A few almonds and pistachios (chopped for garnish)
Instructions
STEP 1- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Add the ghee to the dry ingredients and mix well. The mixture should have a crumbly texture.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and knead to form a smooth dough. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
STEP 2- Shape the Cookies:
- Preheat your oven to 350 F (175 C).
- Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls. Flatten each ball slightly with your hands to form small discs.
- Place the discs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure to leave some space between each disc.
STEP 3- Garnish:
- Press a few chopped almonds and pistachios into the center of each disc for garnish.
STEPN 4- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cookies turn light golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the Naan Katayi cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
STEP 5- Serve:
- Once cooled, the Naan kataai is ready to be served. Enjoy these delicious cookies with a cup of tea or coffee.
