Gather ingredients, measure 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup ghee, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 cups water, and a pinch of cardamom powder.

Heat ghee, heat 1/2 cup ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat until it melts completely.

Roast the flour, add the atta to the ghee and roast on low heat, stirring continuously, until it turns golden brown and aromatic.

Prepare sugar syrup, in a separate pan, dissolve 1/2 cup sugar in 2 cups of water. heat until the sugar fully dissolves, but do not boil.

Combine syrup with flour, slowly pour the sugar syrup into the roasted flour mixture while stirring to avoid lumps.

Garnish and serve, cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens. add a pinch of cardamom powder, mix well, and serve hot. garnish with chopped nuts if desired.
