Cook tomatoes, boil chopped tomatoes in 1 cup of water until soft. blend into a puree or mash well.
Prepare tamarind mixture, dilute tamarind paste in 1 cup of water and mix with the tomato puree.
Add spices, add rasam powder, turmeric powder, and salt to the mixture. simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Prepare tempering, heat ghee in a small pan. add mustard seeds, let them splutter, then add crushed garlic, red chilies, and curry leaves.
Combine tempering with rasam, pour the tempering into the simmering rasam and stir well.
Adjust consistency, add water to achieve the desired consistency and bring it to a gentle boil.
Garnish and serve, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or as a soup.
