Heat oil & temper spices, heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. let them splutter.
Saute onions & chilies, add chopped onions and green chilies, saute until onions turn golden brown.
Cook tomatoes & spices, add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. cook until tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
