Here's how to make the Mutton Sambar recipe at home.

Cook the mutton in salt, turmeric and some water in the pressure cooker until it becomes soft and tender.

When toor dal is very mushy, set it aside as it adds thickness to the sambar.

Saute mustard seeds, curry leaves, onions and green chilies in a large pan, wait until everything becomes golden.

After chopping the tomatoes, add turmeric, chili powder and coriander powder to the pan and cook till the mixture liquefies and oil separates.

Add the cooked dal and mutton to the soup and let it simmer with tamarind water.

Combine the rice or idli with the delicious sambar sauce and top with coriander.
