Heat milk, in a heavy-bottomed pan, heat milk on medium flame and let it simmer until slightly thickened.

Add rice, if using rice, wash and add it to the milk. cook until the rice is soft and the milk thickens further.

Mash the bananas, mash ripe bananas into a smooth pulp and set aside.

Sweeten the kheer, add sugar to the milk and stir well until dissolved.

Mix in bananas, lower the flame and stir in the mashed bananas. cook for 2-3 minutes, ensuring it doesn’t boil.

Add flavor and nuts, add cardamom powder and chopped nuts, stirring gently to combine.

Cool and serve, let the kheer cool slightly and serve warm or chilled, garnished with extra nuts.
