Here's how to make Afghan Jalebi in 6 simple steps.

Prepare the Batter, mix 1 cup flour, 2 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tsp yeast, and a pinch of salt. add water to make a thick batter. rest for 1–2 hours to ferment.
Make the Syrup, boil 2 cups sugar with 1 cup water. add saffron or cardamom powder and simmer until it thickens slightly. keep it warm.
Heat oil, in a deep pan for frying. keep the oil at medium heat to prevent burning.
Pipe the Jalebi, pour the batter into a piping bag and make spiral shapes in the hot oil. fry until golden and crispy.
Soak in Syrup, dip the fried jalebis in warm syrup for 2–3 minutes until well-coated.
Serve, the jalebis warm or at room temperature, garnished with nuts if desired. enjoy the crispy, sweet treat.
