Here's how to make delicious protien packed Sambar Sadam at home in just 7 easy steps.
Pressure cook lentils & rice, cook toor dal, mixed dals, and rice together with 3 cups of water, turmeric, and a pinch of salt for 3-4 whistles until soft.
Cook vegetables, in a separate pan, cook chopped vegetables with ½ cup water until tender.
Prepare the masala, heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin, red chilies, and curry leaves. saute onions and tomatoes until soft.
Add sambar powder & tamarind, stir in sambar powder, tamarind pulp, and salt. cook for a minute to blend the flavors.
Combine everything, add the cooked vegetables and masala mix to the dal-rice mixture. stir well and simmer for 5 minutes.
Adjust consistency, add hot water if needed to reach a porridge-like texture. mix well.
Serve hot, garnish with fresh coriander and serve with papad or curd for a wholesome protein-rich meal.
