Prepare the Base, roll out puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment. score a 1-inch border around the edges and prick the center with a fork.
Slice and Arrange Apples, peel and thinly slice apples. arrange them on the pastry within the scored border, slightly overlapping. sprinkle cinnamon if desired.
Make Caramel Sauce, melt sugar in a pan until golden, stir in butter, and slowly add cream while whisking. let it cool slightly.
Brush and Bake, brush pastry edges with beaten egg, drizzle caramel over apples, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden.
Drizzle More Caramel, after baking, drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the tart. let it cool a bit.
Serve and Enjoy, slice and serve warm or at room temperature, paired with vanilla ice cream for a perfect treat.
