Here's how to make South Indian lemon rice at home.

Cook one cup of rice in the pot and let it cool for a while. You can also use leftover rice.

Now heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Add one teaspoon of urad dal and chana dal, and fry them until it is turn golden. add curry leaves, 2 dried red chilies, and 1 chopped green chili.

Just add ΒΌ teaspoon turmeric powder and a pinch of asafoetida and mix well.

Now add the cooled rice into the batter and gently mix it evenly with the spices.

Turn off the heat. Squeeze juice of 1 to 2 lemons and mix well, and adjust the salt. now your tasty and tangy lemon rice is ready, you can enjoy it with curd pickle or papad.
