Cook Dal, Pressure cook 1 cup of toor dal with turmeric until soft.

Prepare Coconut Paste, Grind 1/2 cup grated coconut with cumin seeds and green chilies into a smooth paste.

Mix Paste and Dal, Add the coconut paste to the cooked dal and simmer for a few minutes.

Temper Spices, Heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds, dried red chilies, curry leaves, and asafoetida.

Add Tempering to Dal, Pour the tempered spices into the dal mixture.

Simmer, Let it simmer for a few more minutes to blend the flavors.

Serve, Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
