Prepare the Bread, cut stale or day-old bread into uniform pieces. lightly toast them if desired for extra crispiness.

Fry the Bread, heat ghee in a deep pan. fry the bread pieces until they turn golden and crisp. drain on paper towels.

Make the Sugar Syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan. boil until it becomes a sticky, slightly thick syrup, adding a few saffron strands and a pinch of cardamom if desired.

Soak the Bread in Syrup, dip the fried bread pieces in the warm sugar syrup for a few seconds so they absorb some sweetness without becoming too soggy.

Prepare the Rabri, boil full-fat milk in a heavy pan until it thickens. stir in some cardamom and saffron, then cool. this thickened milk, called rabri, is drizzled over the soaked bread.

Assemble the Dish, arrange the syrup-soaked bread pieces on a serving plate. If using, pour the rabri evenly over the pieces.

Garnish and Serve, sprinkle chopped nuts and a dash of cardamom powder on top. serve chilled or at room temperature as a rich, royal dessert.
