Check the Roots, authentic garlic usually has roots attached at the base. Chinese garlic often has its roots removed to reduce weight and meet import regulations.
Examine the Color, real garlic typically has an off-white hue with a hint of purple on the outer layers. if the garlic appears too white or has a yellowish tint, it may have been artificially whitened.
Consider the Price, if the garlic is being sold at an unusually low price, it might be of inferior quality or fake. it's better to invest a bit more for genuine garlic.
Smell the Aroma, real garlic emits a strong, pungent aroma. if the garlic lacks this distinctive smell or has a chemical odor, it could be fake.
Feel the Texture, genuine garlic has a firm and intact feel. If it feels hollow or overly soft, it might have been tampered with, possibly injected with water.
Perform the Water Test, place the garlic in water. authentic garlic will sink due to its density, while fake garlic may float.
Inspect the Skin, real garlic has thin, papery skin that's easy to peel. fake garlic often has thicker skin that's hard to remove.
