Here's how to make authentic Punjabi style Petha ka Halwa at home in just 6 easy steps.
Grate & squeeze the pumpkin, peel and grate the pumpkin, then squeeze out excess water using a muslin cloth or hands.
Cook the pumpkin, heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan, add the grated pumpkin, and saute for 5–7 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
Add milk & cook further, pour in the milk and cook on low flame, stirring occasionally, until the pumpkin softens and absorbs the milk.
Add sugar & ghee, mix in the sugar and the remaining ghee, then cook until the mixture thickens and turns glossy.
Flavor with cardamom & nuts, add cardamom powder and chopped nuts, mix well, and cook for another 2 minutes.
Serve hot, enjoy warm punjabi-style pethe ka halwa garnished with more nuts.
