Wash the rice and moong dal together 2–3 times and soak for 15–20 minutes.
Take a pressure cooker or pot, and add ghee into it, then add cumin seeds, then asafoetida and turmeric.
Now, drain the soaked rice and dal, and add them to the cooker. Saute for 1–2 minutes.
Add 3 to 3.5 cups of water. add salt for taste, and give it a nice stir.
Now, pressure cook it and wait for 3–4 whistles.
Open the cooker, stir, and mash lightly. serve hot with ghee, papad, or pickle.
