Make the Spice Paste, grind cumin, black pepper, and ginger into a coarse paste to bring out their flavors.
Saute the Base, heat ghee or oil in a pot, add mustard seeds, and let them crackle. then, add curry leaves and the ginger paste, saute for a minute.
Add Tomatoes and Tamarind, add chopped tomatoes, tamarin, turmeric, and salt. cook for 2–3 minutes until tomatoes soften.
Simmer with Water, add 2 cups of water and simmer for 5–7 minutes to let the flavors blend.
Serve, strain the rasam if needed and serve warm to soothe your sore throat.
