First Let’s talk about Manu Bhaker, the young shooting star who has done it once more, dazzling the world with her incredible talent and securing another major victory.
Manu Bhaker comes from Jhajjar in Haryana, a state famous for its boxers and wrestlers. During her school years, Manu was very active in sports and played tennis, skating, and boxing.
She also took part in a martial art called ‘thang ta,’ where she won medals at the national level.
However, she found her true passion in shooting.
When Manu Bhaker was 14, right after the 2016 Rio Olympics, she decided to try shooting on a whim and immediately loved it.
Within a week, she convinced her father to buy her a sport shooting pistol so she could practice and improve.
Later, her supportive father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, agreed and bought the gun. This important decision helped set Manu Bhaker on the path to her Olympic dreams. After the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Manu became the junior world champion in the women’s 10m air pistol in Lima and kept winning medals in junior events. However, she has had a hard time matching her early success in senior competitions since 2021.
Her only individual senior win was a bronze medal in the women’s 25m pistol event at the Bhopal leg of the 2023 ISSF World Cup series.
