Dahi Tadka Sandwich is a unique and delicious fusion snack that combines the creamy, tangy flavors of yogurt (dahi) with a spicy, savory tadka (tempering) in a sandwich format. It’s a perfect quick meal or snack that’s both refreshing and satisfying. Here’s a simple recipe to make Dahi Tadka Sandwich:
– 1 cup plain yogurt (dahi)
– 1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped
– 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, chopped (optional)
– 1 small cucumber, finely chopped
– 1 small tomato, finely chopped
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 1 green chili, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
– 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
– 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
– Salt to taste
– 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable or mustard)
– 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
– 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 1-2 dried red chilies (optional)
– 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
– A pinch of asafoetida (hing) (optional)
– Bread slices (white, whole wheat, or your choice)
– Butter or ghee for toasting (optional)
– Lettuce leaves (optional, for extra crunch)
– In a mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, coriander leaves, mint leaves (if using), cucumber, tomato, onion, green chili, roasted cumin powder, chaat masala, and salt.
– Mix well to combine all the ingredients. Adjust seasoning according to your taste. Set aside.
– Heat oil in a small pan over medium heat.
– Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When they start to splutter, add the dried red chilies (if using) and a pinch of asafoetida (if using).
– Quickly add the turmeric powder and red chili powder. Stir for a few seconds to release the spices’ aroma. Be careful not to burn the spices.
– Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
– Add the prepared tadka (tempering) to the dahi filling mixture and stir well to combine.
– If desired, lightly butter or apply ghee on one side of each bread slice.
– Heat a griddle or non-stick pan over medium heat and toast the bread slices until golden and crispy on both sides.
– Alternatively, you can use plain bread without toasting, depending on your preference.
– Spread a generous amount of the dahi filling mixture on one slice of bread.
– If using, place lettuce leaves on top of the dahi filling.
– Top with another bread slice to make a sandwich.
– Cut the sandwich into halves or quarters as desired.
– Serve immediately with a side of chutney or pickles.
Enjoy your refreshing and flavorful Dahi Tadka Sandwich!
