Pizza bowls are a fun and customizable way to enjoy the flavors of pizza in a different format. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:
– 1 lb (450g) ground beef or Italian sausage (or a mix)
– 1/2 cup diced onion
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or other pizza toppings (optional)
– 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, black olives, or other vegetables (optional)
– 1/2 tsp dried oregano
– 1/2 tsp dried basil
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 2 cups cauliflower rice or cooked pasta (for a low-carb option, use cauliflower rice)
– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
– In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
– Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is soft and translucent.
– Stir in the pizza sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
– If using cauliflower rice, steam or microwave it until tender. If using cooked pasta, make sure it’s drained well.
– In a large bowl or individual oven-safe bowls, place a layer of cauliflower rice or pasta as the base.
– Top with the meat mixture.
– Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and any additional toppings like pepperoni or vegetables.
– Place the bowl(s) in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
– Let the pizza bowl cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
