Transform Raw Peanuts Into Delicious Peanut Butter At Home Easily
Homemade peanut butter is made by roasting raw peanuts, removing the skins, and blending them into a smooth paste. You can enhance its flavor with salt, honey, or maple syrup, and adjust the consistency by adding a small amount of oil. The process takes just a few minutes, and you can customize it to your liking, whether you prefer creamy or chunky peanut butter. Once blended, store the peanut butter in an airtight jar. It lasts up to two weeks at room temperature or up to three months when refrigerated. Homemade peanut butter is preservative-free and healthier than store-bought alternatives.

Ingredients:

  • Raw Peanuts – 2 cups
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon (optional)
  • Honey or Maple Syrup – 1-2 tablespoons (optional, for sweetness)
  • Oil (Peanut or Vegetable) – 1-2 teaspoons (optional, for smoother consistency)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  • Roast the Peanuts:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Spread the raw peanuts evenly on a baking tray.
    • Roast the peanuts for about 10-15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and aromatic. Stir occasionally to ensure even roasting.
    • Let the peanuts cool for a few minutes after roasting.
  • Remove the Peanut Skins:
    • If your peanuts still have their skins, you can rub them between your hands or use a clean towel to remove the skins. This step is optional, as some people like to keep the skins for extra fiber and texture.
  • Blend the Peanuts:
    • Place the roasted peanuts in a high-powered blender or food processor.
    • Start blending at low speed and gradually increase to high speed.
    • After blending for 2-3 minutes, the peanuts will begin to break down into a crumbly texture. Continue blending until you reach a smoother consistency.
  • Add Salt and Sweeteners:
    • At this stage, you can add ½ teaspoon of salt to enhance the flavor of your peanut butter.
    • If you prefer a sweet touch, add 1-2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup and blend again for 30-60 seconds.
  • Adjust Consistency:
    • If the peanut butter is too thick, you can add 1-2 teaspoons of peanut oil or any neutral oil. This will help achieve a creamier texture. Blend again until smooth.
    • Keep blending until the peanut butter reaches your desired consistency. For a chunkier style, reserve some crushed peanuts and mix them in at the end.
  • Store the Peanut Butter:
    • Transfer the homemade peanut butter into a clean, airtight jar.
    • You can store it at room temperature for up to two weeks or in the refrigerator for a longer shelf life (up to 3 months).

Tips:

  • Chunky Peanut Butter: For a chunkier version, blend half of the peanuts to a smooth paste and reserve some crushed peanuts to mix in later.
  • Natural Separation: Homemade peanut butter may separate over time, with oil rising to the top. Simply stir it before use.
  • Custom Add-ins: You can experiment with adding ingredients like cocoa powder, cinnamon, or vanilla extract for different flavor variations.

Homemade peanut butter is fresher and free of preservatives, making it healthier and tastier than store-bought versions.
