Paneer Bhurji is a delicious and versatile Indian dish made with crumbled paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked with spices and vegetables. Here’s a simple recipe:
– 200 grams paneer (crumbled)
– 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
– 1-2 green chilies (finely chopped, adjust to taste)
– 1 medium tomato (finely chopped)
– 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
– 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
– 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
– Salt to taste
– Fresh coriander leaves (chopped, for garnish)
– Optional: 1/4 cup green peas or finely chopped bell peppers
– Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat.
– Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
– Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
– Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
– Add crumbled paneer and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the flavors.
– Sprinkle garam masala and mix thoroughly. Adjust salt and spices to taste.
– Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with chapati, paratha, or as a filling for sandwiches or wraps.
