– 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1/2 cup milk
– 3 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons rose water or rose syrup
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/2 cup rose milk (store-bought or homemade)
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 2 cups powdered sugar
– 2 tablespoons milk
– 1 tablespoon rose water or rose syrup
– A few drops of pink food coloring (optional)
– Rose petals (edible, if available) or a sprinkle of dried rose petals
– A few drops of rose syrup (for drizzling)
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
– In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
– In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
– Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and rose water (or rose syrup).
– Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
– Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
– Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
– Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
– In a small saucepan, combine the rose milk and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
– In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
– Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
– Add the milk and rose water (or rose syrup), and mix until well combined. If using, add a few drops of pink food coloring for a rosy tint.
– Once the cake is completely cooled, slice it in half horizontally to create two layers.
– Place one layer on a serving plate and brush with a generous amount of rose milk syrup.
– Spread a layer of frosting on top of the first cake layer.
– Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
– Garnish with edible rose petals or a sprinkle of dried rose petals.
– Drizzle a few drops of rose syrup over the top if desired.
