Homemade Easy Sushi Tacos Recipe
Sushi tacos are a fun and tasty twist on traditional sushi. They are easy to make at home and perfect for a quick meal or a party snack. Here's a simple recipe to get you started.
Ingredients
For the taco shells:
- 4 small seaweed sheets (nori)
- 1 cup of sushi rice
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the fillings:
- 1/2 cup fresh tuna or salmon, diced
- 1/2 avocado, sliced
- 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 small carrot, julienned (thin strips)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Optional: pickled ginger, wasabi, and spicy mayo
Instructions
STEP 1- Prepare the Sushi Rice:
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
- Once cooked, let the rice cool slightly.
- Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved, then gently fold into the rice. Set aside.
STEP 2- Make the Taco Shells:

- Cut each seaweed sheet into quarters.
- Lightly brush one side of each nori piece with a bit of water to make them pliable.
- Carefully shape each piece into a taco shell and set aside.

STEP 3- Prepare the Fillings:
- In a bowl, combine the diced tuna or salmon with soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Mix well.
- Slice the avocado, cucumber, and carrot into thin pieces.
STEP 4- Assemble the Sushi Tacos:
- Take a nori taco shell and fill it with a small amount of sushi rice.
- Add a few pieces of the marinated fish.
- Top with slices of avocado, cucumber, and carrot.
- Add optional toppings like pickled ginger, wasabi, or spicy mayo if desired.
Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve your sushi tacos immediately to enjoy the best texture and flavor.
- These are great with a side of soy sauce for dipping.
