Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for homemade garlic knots!
– 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– ¾ cup warm water (110°F or 43°C)
– 2 ½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried)
– ¼ teaspoon salt
– ¼ teaspoon black pepper
– Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large bowl, mix 2 ½ cups flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until combined. If the dough is sticky, add more flour, a little at a time, until it forms a smooth ball.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 6 inches long, then tie it into a knot and tuck the ends underneath.
Place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant (do not let the garlic brown).
Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the knots, reserving some for later.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and brush with the remaining garlic butter. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
Enjoy warm, perfect for dipping in marinara sauce or just on their own!
These garlic knots are sure to be a hit—enjoy!
