Easy Prawn Curry Recipe To Try At Home
Prawn curry is a tasty dish that is easy to make at home. Follow this simple recipe to enjoy a delicious prawn curry with your family.
Ingredients:
- 500 grams of prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 tablespoons of oil (vegetable or coconut oil)
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon of garam masala
- 1 cup of coconut milk
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
STEP 1- Prepare the Prawns:
- Clean and devein the prawns. Rinse them well and set aside.
STEP 2- Heat the Oil:
- In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
STEP 3- Cook the Onions:
- Add the finely chopped onions to the pan. Sauté them until they turn golden brown.
STEP 4- Add Ginger, Garlic, and Green Chilies:
- Add the minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
STEP 5- Cook the Tomatoes:
- Add the chopped tomatoes. Cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
STEP 6- Add Spices:
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
STEP 7- Add Prawns:
- Add the prawns to the pan. Stir well to coat them with the spice mixture. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the prawns turn pink.
STEP 8- Add Coconut Milk:
- Pour in the coconut milk. Stir and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
STEP 9- Simmer:
- Reduce the heat and let the curry simmer for 10 minutes. Add salt to taste.
STEP 10- Finish with Garam Masala:
- Add the garam masala and stir well. Cook for another 2 minutes.
STEP 11- Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or naan.
