– Green Chilies: 1-2, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
– Cilantro: 2 tablespoons, chopped
– Cumin Powder: 1 teaspoon
– Coriander Powder: 1 teaspoon
– Garam Masala: 1/2 teaspoon
– Salt: to taste
– Black Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon
– Breadcrumbs: 1/4 cup (optional, for binding)
– Oil: for frying
– Onion: 1 large, finely sliced
– Tomatoes: 2 large, pureed
– Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tablespoon
– Turmeric Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
– Red Chili Powder: 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
– Cumin Powder: 1 teaspoon
– Coriander Powder: 1 teaspoon
– Garam Masala: 1 teaspoon
– Salt: to taste
– Oil: 2-3 tablespoons
– Water: 1-2 cups (depending on desired gravy consistency)
– Fresh Cilantro: for garnish
– In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, green chilies, cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, black pepper, and breadcrumbs (if using).
– Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
– Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls or oval shapes.
– Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently add the kofta balls, cooking in batches if necessary.
– Fry until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
– In the same pan, add more oil if needed and sauté the sliced onions until they turn golden brown.
– Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute until fragrant.
– Stir in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
– Add turmeric, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes until the spices are well blended.
– Pour in water to achieve your desired gravy consistency. Bring it to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
– Gently add the fried kofta to the gravy, allowing them to simmer together for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
– Sprinkle garam masala on top and mix gently. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
– Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice, naan, or paratha.
Enjoy your delicious Chicken Kofta!
