Transform Raw Bananas Into Crunchy Chips In Just Minutes

Homemade banana chips are a crispy, healthy snack made from raw bananas. First, slice the bananas thinly and soak them in turmeric water to remove excess starch. Dry them well and deep-fry in hot oil until golden and crunchy. Season with salt, black pepper, or chili powder for extra flavor. Let the chips cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. Enjoy these crunchy treats anytime as a perfect tea-time or midday snack.

Ingredients:

  • 4 raw bananas (firm and green)
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups water
  • Oil for deep frying (coconut oil or vegetable oil)
  • ½ tsp black pepper or chili powder (optional, for seasoning)

Step-by-Step Recipe:

 Peel and Slice the Bananas

  • Choose firm, green bananas as they give the best crispiness.
  • Cut off both ends of the bananas and peel the skin.
  • Using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer, thinly slice the bananas into uniform round pieces.

Soak in Turmeric Water

  • In a bowl, mix 2 cups of water with turmeric powder and salt.
  • Soak the banana slices in this water for 5-10 minutes to remove excess starch and prevent discoloration.
  • Drain the water and pat the banana slices dry using a kitchen towel.

 Heat the Oil for Frying

  • In a deep pan or kadai, heat oil on medium flame.
  • Test the oil by dropping a tiny slice—if it sizzles immediately, the oil is ready.

 Fry the Banana Slices

  • Carefully drop a few banana slices into the hot oil, do not overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry on medium flame, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden and crispy.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain excess oil on a paper towel.

 Season the Chips

  • While still warm, sprinkle black pepper, chili powder, or salt as per your taste.
  • Toss well to coat the chips evenly.

 Let Them Cool & Store

  • Allow the chips to cool completely before storing them.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep them crispy for weeks.

These crunchy, flavorful banana chips are perfect for snacking and much healthier than store-bought versions. Enjoy them with tea or as a quick munch anytime.
