Here’s a classic milk pudding recipe that’s creamy, simple, and delicious:

1. Ingredients

– 2 cups whole milk
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 3 tbsp cornstarch
– 1/4 tsp salt
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1 tbsp unsalted butter (optional, for extra richness)

2. Instructions

Step 1- Mix Dry Ingredients:

– In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cornstarch, sugar, and salt until well combined.

Step 2- Add Milk:

– Gradually add the milk to the dry ingredients, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.

Step 3- Cook the Mixture:

– Place the saucepan over medium heat. Cook the mixture, whisking frequently, until it begins to thicken and comes to a gentle boil. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

Step 4- Simmer and Stir:

– Once the pudding starts to boil, continue to cook for another 2 minutes, whisking constantly, until it reaches a creamy consistency. Be sure to scrape the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking.

Step 5- Add Flavor and Butter:

– Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and, if desired, the butter for added richness and smoothness.

Step 6- Cool and Serve:

– Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes or a single large dish. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until chilled and set.

Enjoy your homemade milk pudding!
