1. Ingredients

For the Cream Mixture:

– 1 cup mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
– 1/2 cup powdered sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Coffee Mixture:

– 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled (can be espresso or regular coffee)
– 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional, for added flavor)
– 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, adjust to taste)

For Assembling:

– 24-30 ladyfingers (savoiardi) or sponge fingers
– Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
– Shaved chocolate or chocolate curls (optional, for garnish)

2. Instructions

Step 1- Prepare the Coffee Mixture:

– In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of cooled strong brewed coffee with 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur (if using) and 1 tablespoon of sugar (if using). Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.

Step 2- Make the Cream Mixture:

– In a large bowl, beat 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. You can use an electric mixer for this.
– In another bowl, mix 1 cup of mascarpone cheese with 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
– Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
