1. Ingredients
For the Fish Filling:
- 500g boneless fish fillets (such as bhetki or rohu)
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons mustard oil or vegetable oil
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
For the Roll:
- 4-6 parathas or rotis (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1-2 green chilies, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon tamarind chutney (optional)
- Ketchup (optional)
2. Instructions
- Prepare the Fish Filling:
Step 1- Cook the Fish:
Boil or steam the fish fillets until fully cooked. Let them cool and then shred the fish into small pieces, removing any bones.
Step 2- Saut the Spices:
Heat mustard oil or vegetable oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onions, green chilies, ginger paste, and garlic paste. Saut until the onions turn golden brown.
Step 3- Add Spices:
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes until the spices are well blended.
Step 4- Combine Fish:
Add the shredded fish to the pan and mix well with the spices. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the mixture is dry and well combined.
Step 5- Finish:
Stir in the garam masala and sugar. Adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Let the filling cool.
- Assemble the Rolls:
Step 6- Prepare Parathas/Rotis:
Warm the parathas or rotis slightly if needed.
Step 7- Fill the Rolls:
Spread a layer of the fish filling down the center of each paratha or roti. Add sliced onions, green chilies, and fresh coriander leaves. Optionally, spread some tamarind chutney or ketchup for extra flavor.
Step 8- Roll and Serve:
